Avex Mode (エイベックス・モード, Eibekkusumōdo) formerly known as a.t.m. (Avex Theatre Music), was an anime-specialized video and record label formerly owned by Avex Entertainment Inc, a subsidiary of the Avex Group, a Japanese entertainment conglomerate.
History[]
In April 1998, Avex (later Avex Entertainment Inc.) music producer Takayuki Nagasawa separated from Avex Trax and Avex Tune to found a.t.m. (Avex Theatre Music), an anime-specialized label. The first work on the label was the Initial D series. In November 1999, a.t.m. changed its name to Avex Mode.
The label released video and music content for anime productions such as One Piece and music productions for the Kamen Rider series (from 2002 to 2009). Most of the company's anime productions made their television debut on AT-X and Animax, and many of the first AT-X productions later aired on Animax's "Avex Mode Anime Hour" slot for anime produced by the company (the programme stopped airing in February 2007).
In 2007, the Avex Entertainment and Zoom Flicker labels were introduced, with the "Kamen Rider Series" being transferred to Avex Entertainment in 2009. And since 2011, the Avex Mode label has only been utilized for "Initial D" (up to Final Stage) and "One Piece" (up to Punk Hazard Arc).
On April 1st, 2014, the contents of the label were subsequently transferred to Avex Pictures, and its release and distribution source was also changed from Avex Marketing to the company. At the same time, "One Piece" was also transferred to the Avex pictures label. With the completed development of Initial D Final Stage, the label effectively went defunct around the summer of 2014 as no new releases were being made.
