"Deja Vu" (or "Déjà Vu") is a song performed by Giancarlo Pasquini under his alias Dave Rodgers. Produced in 1999, the song made its first album appearance in the mixed compilation album "Super Eurobeat Presents Euromach 2" on November 10, 1999. Then it was later released on a 12-inch release of the that album and "Hyper Star Energy" by Cutting Edge and Avex Trax, which also included the other song, "Station To Station" by Derreck Simons. Twenty years later, on May 15, 2019, the song was released as a digital maxi-single by Avex Trax on streaming services and digital downloads exclusively. The song was written by Fabrizio Rizzolo, composed by Pasquini, Rizzolo and Luca Frassetto with production credited to Pasquini as Dave Rodgers.
A remix by New Generation was released on a promotional 12-inch remix release of Super Eurobeat Presents Initial D Super Euro-Best which was released by Avex Mode and Avex Trax in 2000. The release included three other songs: "One Night In Arabia" (B4 Za Beat Remix) by Go Go Girls, "Station To Station" (B4 Za Beat Remix) by Derreck Simons, and Rodgers other song, "Space Boy" (New Generation Remix).
Pasquini covered the song twice in 2018 and 2019. In 2021, his son, Federico Pasquini, covered it twice under his alias Kaioh in English and Japanese. In 2022, Tomas Marin covered the song in Spanish under the alias of Mega NRG Man. Additionally, Pasquini reversioned the song several times in different genres, including Classical, Bossa Nova, and Metal.
Lyrics[]
[Verse 1]
See your body into the moonlight
Even if I try to cancel
All the pictures into the mind
There's flashing in my eyes
[Pre-Chorus]
Don't you see my, condition?
The fiction, is gonna run it again
Can't you see now, illusions?
Right into your mind
[Chorus]
Deja Vu, I've just been in this place before
Higher on the street, and I know it's my time to go
Calling you, and the search is a mystery
Standing on my feet, it's so hard when I try to be me
Woah!
Deja Vu, I've just been in this time before
Higher on the beat, and I know it's a place to go
Calling you, and the search is a mystery
Standing on my feet, it's so hard when I try to be me
Yeah!
[Verse 2]
See the future into the present
See my past lives in the distance
Try to guess now what's going on
And the band begins to play
