The song was written by Giancarlo Pasquini, and composed by him alongside Luigi Raimondi, with production credits going to Pasquini under his alias Dave Rodgers. Additionally, Rodgers recorded and mixed the song at Sound & Vision Studio.
The song was released on a 12" vinyl single on February 23rd 1994, by A-Beat-C in Italy, as the A-Side to the other Valentina song "Tonite". "Harmony" made its first album appearance on Maharaja Night - Hi-NRG Revolution Vol. 11 on July 21st, 1994. A remix by Midi Wave was released on a separate promotional vinyl single released by Avex Trax the same year, alongside another Midi Wave remix of "You Need A Lover" by Tommy K.
In 1997, the song was covered in Japanese by the J-Pop group MAX.
