Laurent Newfield is the main alias of Laurent Gelmetti for production. Gelmetti has been using the alias since 1991 when he was at Time Records.
The name comes from the English artist Mike Oldfield. This was given to him by Mauro Farina after hearing him play guitar in the style of Oldfield.
On November 12, 2024, Gelmetti announced his retirement from music industry along with his Laurent Newfield alias on his Facebook page titled "Italo Disco Mixmaster", with "Love Is A Killer" by Cherry and "Speed Devil" by Luke being his last songs produced under Newfield. Thus ends his 40-year career as a producer.[1]
