Luca Pernici is an Italian musician, composer, producer, and sound engineer from Reggio Emilia.
Biography[]
He started his studies at the "Achille Peri" Musical Institute of Reggio Emilia, integrating studies of traditional and jazz harmony. Joining the crew of Maffia Sound System and working with Stefano Marcato, an Italian musicologist and researcher, were important experiences for his progress as a musician.
Luca's father had a great impact on educating him in jazz music. Together, they listened to his father's jazz and classical vinyl when Luca was six years old. When he was fourteen/fifteen he had his first touch with electronic instruments and computer music. He also began playing keyboards in some bands.
In 1994 he started working as a producer and composer in recording studios. Between 1994 and 1999, he produced more than 100 published songs, mainly Eurobeat, for Time, A-Beat-C, Avex Trax and Toshiba EMI. One of those compositions was Go! Go!, a song first performed by DJ NRG, followed by a cover by Namie Amuro, which appeared on her debut album. This album sold a total of 1,856,000 copies, creating a sensation. His most famous Eurobeat songs are from his period at Time Records (1996-1999), where he often headed a team of writers that could include his old friend Stefano Marcato, Riccardo Romanini, Lucio Boiardi Serri, or Giordano Gambogi. His latest Eurobeat works were remixes of two songs by Japanese pop group MAX for SEB 100.
Subsequently, he has worked in several Italian pop rock albums and singles as a producer, composer, and engineer. He collaborated with artists such as Ligabue, Il Nucleo, Mario Biondi, Stefano Centomo (second classified at Sanremo 2007), RIO, and Marla Singer to mention a few.
By 2012, he had created more than 250 published productions. Nowadays, he lives in Italy and Brazil, in the state of Bahia.
