"Space Boy" is a song by Giancarlo Pasquini under his alias Dave Rodgers. Produced in 1997, the song made its first appearance on Act 1 of the anime Initial D First Stage on April 18, 1998, before making its first album appearance on Super Eurobeat Vol. 87 on April 22, 1998. The song was later released as the A-side on a 12-inch single by A-Beat-C in Italy on October 2, 1998, along with Rodgers' other song "Golden 70's Years", which served as the B-side. It was written by Fabrizio Rizzolo and Giovanni Mauro; composed by Giancarlo Pasquini and produced by him as Dave Rodgers. The song has become synonymous with the Initial D franchise, often being featured in video games, albums, commercials, and trailers related to the series.
A remix of the song made by New Generation was released together with remixes of three other songs: "One Night In Arabia" (B4 Za Beat Remix) by Go Go Girls, "Station To Station" (B4 Za Beat Remix) by Derreck Simons, and Rodgers' other song "Deja Vu" (New Generation Remix) in a promotional 12-inch remix maxi-release of the album Super Eurobeat Presents Initial D Super Euro-Best that was released by Avex Mode and Avex Trax in 2000.
Over the years, the song has been covered numerous times, mostly by Rodgers. In 2009, a cover featuring Mike Garson and Rafael Moreira was released, followed by covers in 2018, 2019, and 2023 with Motsu. Additionally, in 2021, Alessandra Mirka Gatti covered the song under her alias Domino.
In 2024, it was released an old Demo version of the song, tagged as "Demo Tape Space Rough Mix", which was performed by the "Dave Rodgers Band".
